A Contemporary Family Home Reimagined

The Arora Residence is a 4,200 sq ft contemporary home in South Delhi, designed for a family of five who wanted a space that balanced warm, inviting living areas with a quietly sophisticated aesthetic. The brief was clear: create a home that feels curated and intentional without ever feeling cold or sterile.

Our design response centred on the concept of "curated calm" — using a restrained material palette of Italian marble, solid teak, hand-woven textiles, and carefully sourced artisan pieces to create spaces with visual depth and tactile richness. Natural light was treated as a primary material, with the spatial layout reorganised to maximise south-facing light across the principal living areas.

The Design Challenge

The existing layout suffered from disconnected living zones and poor natural light distribution. The family needed separate yet open areas for children, parents, and guests — all within a single level.

The Challenge

A fragmented floor plan with seven small rooms, north-facing primary spaces starved of natural light, and a kitchen completely isolated from the family living area — creating a home that felt disconnected from itself.

Our Solution

We restructured the plan by removing three non-load-bearing walls to create an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen zone. A new internal skylight was introduced, and a bespoke joinery screen replaced the original wall to the study, maintaining privacy while allowing light to flow freely.

Materials & Finishes

The material palette was built around three anchors: Calacatta marble from Italy (floors and kitchen island), solid teak wood (all joinery, shelving, and the dining table custom-made in our workshop), and a bespoke oyster-grey micro-cement render on feature walls throughout.

Soft furnishings were sourced from a combination of international and artisan Indian suppliers — handwoven khadi cotton upholstery, hand-tufted silk-wool blend rugs, and hand-blown glass pendant lights commissioned from a Jaipur studio.

"From the first meeting to the moment we walked into our finished home, Luxe Interiors exceeded every expectation. They understood us better than we understood ourselves, and the result is a home we are deeply, completely in love with."
